A core part of roleplay is maintaining the wall between what happens In Character (IC) and Out of Character (OOC). Opinions, actions, and words performed IC do not reflect the player behind the character. A character can despise your character, threaten them, or work against them, and the players involved can still be perfectly friendly outside of the scene. Never assume IC hostility means OOC hostility, and never bring OOC conflicts into the scene. Keep the wall intact.
Metagaming is using OOC knowledge to influence IC decisions. If you learn something in Discord, in SL voice, in an OOC channel, or through a private message, your character does not know it. Only information learned through direct IC experience is available to your character. This includes knowing another character's identity, plans, location, or secrets that your character has no IC reason to know. Play the character, not the player.
A character who cannot be defeated, always wins regardless of circumstances, or forces outcomes on others is not fun to play with and will not be welcome here. When roleplaying a physical action against another character, it must always be an attempt. Write it as an attempt, and allow the other player to decide the outcome, or use the sim HUD where applicable. You may never write another character's reactions, injuries, or decisions for them. Equally, do not build a character who exists outside the possibility of consequence.
Roleplay that results in permanent consequences for another character (death, serious injury, capture, major story changes) requires the OOC consent of that player before it occurs. Discuss it privately first. Respect stated limits. No one is required to accept a permanent consequence they did not agree to. Temporary scene consequences are part of normal play, but anything that would follow a character beyond the scene requires agreement.
The Umbral Accord is a Star Wars roleplay set in 300+ ABY on Dromund Kaas. Characters and avatars must fit the Star Wars universe: canon species, appropriate technology, plausible backstories within the established lore. This does not mean every character must be Sith or Force-sensitive. Non-Force citizens, merchants, soldiers, and wanderers are all part of the Accord. What it does mean is that your character should feel like they belong in this galaxy, in this era. If you are unsure whether something fits, ask an administrator before investing in a direction that may need to change.
You are never required to enter or remain in a scene you are not comfortable with. However, if you join an active scene, be considerate to everyone involved. Do not disrupt ongoing RP without cause. Do not take over a scene that is not yours. If you need to leave mid-scene for OOC reasons, communicate that briefly and step out gracefully. The same consideration you would want from others is the standard expected from you.
The Umbral Accord is an adult (18+) rated sim. Players and characters must both be 18 or older. Character avatars must also present as 18 or older. Child or underage-presenting avatars are not permitted regardless of stated character age. Explicit sexual content must be taken to private spaces such as rental properties or designated adult-rated areas. It is not permitted in public sim spaces.
