Getting Started

How to Join

01
Read the Lore
You do not need to memorize everything. But you should know the basics before you arrive.
The Umbral Accord has a history, a culture, and a philosophy that shapes every interaction on sim. You do not need to be an expert before your first visit, but knowing the broad strokes makes the experience better for you and everyone around you. The About page covers who the Accord is and what it stands for. The Timeline covers how it got here. A quick read of both will tell you everything you need to walk into the City of Twilight and hold your own.
02
Read the Rules
The Rules page covers everything expected of players on sim and in the community.
Before you register or set foot on sim, read the Rules and Code of Conduct. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse, and the standards here exist to make the experience good for everyone. The rules cover roleplay conduct, metagaming, consent, avatar standards, and community behavior. It is a quick read. Do it.
03
Create Your Character
Decide who you are before you arrive. Your character needs to fit the Star Wars universe.
The Umbral Accord is a Star Wars roleplay set in 300+ ABY. Your character must fit the universe: a plausible species, a backstory that could exist in this era, and an avatar that reads as Star Wars. You do not need to be Force-sensitive. Non-Force citizens, merchants, soldiers, scholars, and wanderers are all part of the Accord and have a place here. What you do need is a character who belongs in this galaxy. If you are unsure, the Factions and Ranks page gives you a full picture of what roles exist and what they involve.
04
Register with the Accord
Enter your character into the Accord registry. Visitors and Civilians are recorded immediately.
The registry form is IC: you are filing an entry with the Office of Citizen Affairs at Penumbra Station. Choose your status: Visitor (passing through or exploring) or Civilian (residing and participating in Accord society). Both are entered into the system the moment you submit, no waiting required. If you want to pursue full Citizenship, check the box on the form and an administrator will review your request when they are able. Your Civilian record is created either way.
05
Join the Discord
The Discord is where OOC community happens: announcements, lore discussion, events, and more.
The Umbral Accord Discord server is the hub for out-of-character community. Announcements about events, lore updates, and sim changes are posted there first. It is also where you will find other players to connect with before and after sessions, get questions answered by administrators, and stay informed about what is happening in the Accord. New members are encouraged to introduce themselves in the welcome channel.
06
Find the Sim
Search for Umbral Accord in Second Life or use the direct SLurl below.
The Umbral Accord sim is located on Zakuul in Second Life. All visitors arrive at Penumbra Station first, the orbital gateway above Zakuul. From there you will be directed to the surface and the City of Twilight. The sim is set to General access for approved members and Visitor access for those still in the application process. If you have trouble locating the sim or landing, reach out in the Discord and someone will assist you.

Before You Arrive

Quick Lore Primer

What the Accord Is
A Force-rooted mixed civilization on Zakuul. Not an empire. Not a Republic. A nation built by people who survived the collapse of everything and chose to build something different from the wreckage. Its doors have been closed for most of its existence. At 300 ABY, they are open.
The Axiom
The supreme authority of the Accord is an ancient AI of layered origin: a Rakatan computational core, integrated by Zakuulan engineers with Iokath-derived technology. It does not advertise what it is. The general population has its theories. The inner circle knows the truth.
The Umbral Knights
The founding order. They are not Jedi. They are not Sith. They walk both sides of the Force and treat alignment as a tool rather than a doctrine. What defines them is the lesson drawn from history: endurance over purity, patience over unchecked ambition, legacy over conquest.
Non-Force Citizens
Engineers, merchants, soldiers, scholars, and healers built the Accord alongside the Knights. They are full citizens with full rights, their own ranks and roles, and a history that is not forgotten. The Accord is not a Force-user sim with civilian dressing. It is a mixed civilization.
The Setting
300+ ABY. Zakuul. Capital: the City of Twilight (street name: Twilight City). Orbital gateway: Penumbra Station. The wider galaxy knows the Accord exists now. The doors opened recently. Your character arrives in the early days of that opening.
The Creed
"The shadow carries what the light forgets." The public-facing identity of the Accord. Spoken by Knights and non-Force citizens alike. Carved above the Senate entrance. It is not just a motto. It is a statement of architecture.

Common Questions

FAQ

Do I have to be Force-sensitive to play here?
No. The Umbral Accord is a mixed civilization. Non-Force characters are a full and valued part of the community. Merchants, soldiers, intelligence operatives, engineers, medics, and civilians all have ranks, roles, and stories here. The Umbral Knights are the founding faction, not the only option.
Can I play a Jedi or Light Side character?
Visitors of all Force affiliations are accepted under Accord law, including Jedi and Republic-affiliated individuals. You are a guest and expected to behave as one. Long-term play as a Jedi within the Accord is possible but comes with natural IC tension given the setting. Talk to an administrator if you want guidance on how to make it work.
What era is this set in? Do I need to know all of Star Wars canon?
The Umbral Accord is set in 300+ ABY, well beyond the events of the Skywalker Saga and most published material. You do not need deep Star Wars knowledge. The lore that matters for this sim is on this website. Familiarity with the broad shape of the universe helps, but the Accord has its own history and you will learn it as you play.
How long does registration take?
Visitor and Civilian registrations are approved immediately when you submit the form. Your registry entry is created on the spot. If you checked the box to apply for full Citizenship, that part requires an administrator to review and upgrade your record. There is no set timeline, but you are already in the system and can participate as a Civilian in the meantime.
Can I play a canon species? What about rare or unusual species?
Canon Star Wars species are welcome. Unusual or rare species are considered on a case-by-case basis as long as the character concept fits the era and setting. What is not accepted is anything that fundamentally does not belong in the Star Wars universe. If you are unsure whether your concept works, ask an administrator before investing in an avatar.
Is this an adult sim? What does that mean for my character?
Yes. The Umbral Accord is an adult (18+) rated sim. Both players and characters must be 18 or older, and avatars must present as adults. Adult content exists on sim but is confined to appropriate private or designated spaces. Public roleplay follows the standard conduct rules.
I am new to roleplay. Is this sim welcoming to beginners?
Yes, with the caveat that you should read the rules and lore before arriving. The Accord does not require experience, but it does require preparation. Players who show up having done their homework, even if they are new to RP, are welcomed. Players who show up expecting to wing it tend to have a rougher time.

The Doors Are Open

Penumbra Station is receiving visitors. The City of Twilight has room for new citizens, new ambitions, and new stories. The shadow has been waiting a long time. It is ready for yours.
